Ippolito_croppedAndrea Ippolito. As a research scientist at Boston Scientific Corporation in Massachusetts, Andrea Ippolito designs experimental assays to further understand the effects of drugs and materials from medical devices on cardiovascular cells. Her insights into the foreign-body response to medical devices will help engineering teams design safer, more-effective products. She was also identified by senior management to help lead a cross-divisional effort to develop collaboration networks across a $1 billion R&D organization.

2010 Annual Meeting
October 6–9, 2010
Austin Convention Center, Austin, Texas

The 2010 annual meeting will be held in Austin, Texas, October 6 through 9, hosted by the University of Texas, Austin. According to Jack D. Hart, assistant chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, "We are expecting that more than 3,000 participants will attend the 2010 meeting. We look forward to building on Pittsburgh's 2009 success."
